About Lucy

Lucy Scanlon is a co-founder of Roots + Wings.

She has a decade of experience in the charity sector, and her most recent role was Head of Marketing and Communications at Women for Women International-UK, where she was a driving force in developing a strong, impactful, and coherent global brand for the organisation.

Lucy’s passion is story-telling and she uses this to create cross-cutting communications strategies that meet business objectives. She has particular expertise in using digital and social media to support income generating strategies and create movements for change.

Earlier in her career, Lucy was a fundraising lead at a number of international development organisations, including SafeHands for Mothers and Amref Health Africa. Her areas of fundraising expertise include corporate, community and events and individual giving.

Lucy has a BA Hons in European Studies from King’s College, London, and a Certificate in Fundraising from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising. She was formerly a trustee of the Me2 Club, a charity supporting children with additional needs to take part in mainstream leisure activities and was selected as one of the 25 under 35 by Civil Society’s Fundraising Magazine in 2018.

Outside work, Lucy loves wild swimming, reading and exploring Devon in her camper van. She plays double bass in a local orchestra and sings in a choir.
